About
k rad eleet is my serious weblog about technology, politics, music, and miscellany.
I am a technology professional in the Seattle area, originally from Boston, with nearly a decade of professional technology experience in various areas of computing and communications.
My politics and philosophies are progressive and somewhat unique. My music tastes vary among many genres, including many electronic genres. My tastes overall tend to be obscure, ironic, and offbeat. I have a fair number of crazy ideas.

Hi there,
You posted last month on Slashdot, wondering about financial apps that are Open Source. I apologize for spamming your blog with comments, but I wanted to respond to you with something that fits the bill nicely. Whenever I see a thread somewhere about OSS accounting apps, it irritates me that this app isn’t featured.
Check out Quasar Accounting - http://www.linuxcanada.com - this is a package that was Commercial, but they open sourced it and don’t do nearly good enough job promoting it. This software is on the level of Quickbooks Enterprise - it’s a complete graphical client (Windows and Linux binaries available) and Linux server combo, based on Qt, and it’s free and you get the source (GPL). They sell support contracts and Point of Sale modules, and support three fulltime devs doing it. This is some serious stuff - the feature list is 50 pages long - and the only thing missing is Payroll, which is available from many third-party sources as a service.

“My politics and philosophies are progressive and somewhat unique”
No, actually you just spread your crap at some places like Slashdot and here. Your political ideas are as civilized as Mussolini’s.
This generally happens when a (narcistic) IT guy tries to talk about something he doesn’t know a shit about : Politics, history, philosopy etc.
Some losers could think you know something but actually you’re just humiliating yourself.
Stick with technology related stuff. Do humanity a favor.
Adios

Judging by the date, I presume that last rant had something to do with my post about Turkey on Slashdot.
